I have been on a life long journey in search of how to best live each day at a time.

One fateful day I heard a statement that struck me strongly within the deepest part of my being-“All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast

This was a quote from the bible, Proverbs 15:15. Breaking this into modern day English — All the days of the afflicted are evil, But he who is of a merry heart has a continual feast

On further study I discovered that the afflicted mentioned in the verse was referring to self-pity. People wallowing in self-pity.

Self pity is defined as feeling sorry for oneself; being depressed about one’s situation.

Being in self-pity and judgmental of one’s pace of progress or mistakes daily robs us of loads of things we should be benefiting, learning from and enjoying daily.

Therefore in order live each day at its best, we should be merry — cheerful and lively in spite of our circumstances, no self-pity, living in equanimity .
